Lukas Bosch and Daniel Kuhagen take over chairmanship of the RBC Board

Generational change on the school board

After more than ten years, Dr. Christof Bosch is handing over the chairmanship of the RBC Board to his son Lukas Bosch as of today. At the same time, Daniel Kuhagen, Chairman of the German UWC Foundation in Berlin and member of the Finance and Audit Committee of UWC International, will take over as Deputy Chairman from Dr. Christian Hodeige. Bosch Sr. and Hodeige have led the Board of UWC Robert Bosch College since its foundation in 2014 and have not only done valuable development work during this time, but have also successfully established the College in the German and international school landscape and the international UWC educational movement.

UWC Robert Bosch College (RBC) in Freiburg is a boarding school for 200 young people aged 16 to 19 from around 90 countries. Almost all of them are supported by a scholarship. After two years, they receive the IB diploma (International Baccalaureate), an internationally recognized school-leaving qualification. Like the other 17 UWC schools, RBC has set itself the goal of making education a force that unites people, nations and cultures in the pursuit of peace and a sustainable future.

“Building on the outstanding work of the last 10 years”

Lukas Bosch brings extensive experience as a social entrepreneur and is a graduate of UWC Mostar. He has founded several start-ups and worked with organizations focused on impact finance, sustainability and migration in the US, Europe and Sub-Saharan Africa. He has been a member of the Board since 2022 and most recently helped organize the succession of Rektor at the College. “I am very much looking forward to shaping UWC Robert Bosch College together with Daniel Kuhagen and the entire Board. I am grateful to be able to build on the outstanding work of the last ten years,” says Lukas Bosch. Together with Daniel Kuhagen, he would like to help the school continue its mission and further expand its focus on the role of sustainability and technology for an open, peaceful world.

Founded on the occasion of Robert Bosch’s 150th birthday

Christof Bosch, who has been closely involved with the school from its conception to its foundation and its 10th anniversary last year, comments on the handover to his son: “It was an honor and a pleasure to help establish UWC Robert Bosch College and to open it on the occasion of my grandfather Robert Bosch’s 150th birthday. He was a personal friend and companion of Kurt Hahn, whose educational approach and personal values made it possible to found the first United World College in Wales. What could be more natural than to bring this school and its vision of peace and dialog between cultures to Germany? I am delighted that the strong connection to the family, company and foundation history will remain through the change in the Board of Directors.”

Christof Bosch and Christian Hodeige will remain members of the Board of Directors, Mr. Bosch until November 2026.

Dr. Kurt Liedtke, who has been a member of the Board for many years, is also being bid farewell today. The former Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Robert Bosch Stiftung has been involved in the Board since the school was founded and has supported UWC RBC in many ways. The College would like to thank him wholeheartedly for his commitment.
