Senior Jazz Choir Freiburg meets Kultur in der Kartause
As part of our charity concert series “Kultur in der Kartause”, we cordially invite you to a special concert experience:
On March 14 at 8 p.m., the award-winning Senior Jazz Choir will be a guest in our school’s auditorium.
The Senior Jazz Choir was founded in November 2012. Its singers bring decades of experience from choirs and ensembles – some of them also from the world-famous Jazzchor Freiburg. Integrated into the “Jazzchor family”, the Jazzchor Freiburg association consisting of three choirs, the Senior Jazzchor also goes its own musical way. The repertoire ranges from jazz standards to pop, rock and funk to pieces specially arranged for the choir by Julian Knörzer, who directed the choir from 2014 to 2025.
The choir has celebrated great success at the last two German choir competitions: in 2018 it won third prize and in 2023 it even took second prize. At concerts, international workshops and competitions, the seniors delight audiences with their rhythm, love of experimentation and audible joy of sound, all underpinned by great musical experience.
A special moment of this evening: Alina Klotz, who will take over the direction of the choir together with Fabian Kühn from March 2026, celebrates her inaugural concert with this event.
Admission to the concert is free, but donations are welcome. All proceeds will go towards the “Culture in the Charterhouse” scholarship, which we would like to use to enable a young person to take part in our school program.
Organizational matters:
- Start of concert: 8 pm
- From 7 p.m., UWC students invite you to short guided tours of the school grounds around the former Carthusian monastery.
- Also from 7 p.m., our students will be serving homemade snacks and drinks in the foyer of the auditorium.
We look forward to an inspiring evening full of music and encounters!
